Full time attachment to a child care centre in the infant care & child care unit, under mentorship with Senior infant care/ early years teachers, a trainee teacher will be coached through the apprentice program undergoing the Higher Certificate in Infant Care/Advanced Certificate in Early Years course and will be able to assume the role as an Infant Care/Early Years Teacher upon completion of the course on the following:
Job responsibilities:
- Conduct age-appropriate lessons according to our infant care curriculum programme
- Carry out progress monitoring of young infants/toddlers
- Classroom management and maintaining a pleasant and conducive learning environment
- Setting up learning corners for the young infants/toddlers
- Carrying out routine care duties
- Organizing and participating in centre events
- Ensuring the safety and hygiene of the infants
- Work closely with other teaching staff in the room in carrying out the duties
- Build and maintain close partnerships with colleagues and parents
- Assist in other ad-hoc duties or initiatives where needed
Entry job requirements:
- Local qualification - Completed Secondary 4 education and at least an average of SOA 5 in the Workplace Literacy series (WPL); either SOA 5 for WPL Writing or a GCE O-level credit in the English Language as First Language
- Foreign Qualification - Completed 10 years of formal education and at least an average SOA 5 in the WPL series, either SOA 5 for WPL (Writing).
- Comfortable with handling Infants
- Proficient in MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Good in communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Open to new ideas and feedback, comfortable with learning and using new technologies and good energy level
- Able to work well independently as well as within a team
