Responsibilities:
- Manage the supply base for use in quoting materials.
- Analyze current and potential supply sources while staying abreast with corporate supply chain initiatives and strategies in line with the market segmentation strategy.
- Negotiate best possible pricing garnered from the supply base.
- Support new business and quarterly specific commodities quotation activities.
- Review quote with Commodity Management as and when necessary.
- Provides support to Commodity Management by maintaining and developing knowledge of the supply base.
- Prepare material quote packages and solicit quotes from the supply base.
- Assist with the development of a global infrastructure to quote material that supports company business and growth plans.
- Assist with the development, monitoring, and implementation of global material quotation strategies.
- Assist with the development of the supply base to exceed the goals and objectives of company and the supply chain management team.
- Assist with the definition, development, and implementation of material quotation models to meet company’s business needs.
- Drive continuous improvement through trend reporting analysis and metrics management.
Assure that procedures and work instructions are efficient and non-redundant. - Offer new, innovative and entrepreneurial ideas and suggestions for improvement. Identify and implement new practices and processes that are “best in class”.
- Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet, and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority.
- Periodically review and evaluate existing procedures and processes to ensure current operation model meet requestor needs.
- Establish new measurement systems if/where appropriate.
- Ensure the efficient and timely exchange of knowledge and information within the company Corporation to ensure best practices are shared throughout the organization.
- Ensure 100% adherence to all company policies and procedures (i.e. Health and Safety, Quality, & Security).
- Ensure all sensitive and confidential information is handled appropriately.
- Coach Materials Quotation staff in the interviewing/hiring process.
- Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility.
- Assist with coaching and mentoring of Material Quotation Analysts to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
- Assist with the creation and management of succession plans.
- Assist in the definition, development and implementation of a strategy, which contributes to the corporate strategic direction.
- Develop an understanding of Sectors and Commodity Management Business strategy as it pertains to Quotes Management.
- Provide updates to Sectors and Commodity Management on quotation activities.
- Cost Management
- Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
- Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Management or related discipline
- Minimum of seven (7) years’ work experience in Purchasing / Materials management.
- Ability to converse and write in English. Knowing Mandarin is an added advantage as to liaise with factories mandarin speaking countries.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Good in solving practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with constantly changing priorities and deadlines.
