JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and support of hardware, software, instrumentation, and control systems within integrated projects. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks from developing technical documentation to collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and external vendors.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and Technical Support: You will be responsible for the design and technical support of all hardware, software, instrumentation, and control elements within integrated systems. This includes identifying, creating, and supporting project documentation such as HMI, PLC programming, power distribution, control/signal wiring, wireless technology, cabinet/panel design, BOM, and layout drawings.
  • Instrumentation Specifications: Develop instrumentation specifications aligned with process requirements and control schemes. Collaborate with engineering, project management, and deployment teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Technical Direction: Provide technical direction as required to ensure the successful implementation and functioning of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Vendor Coordination: Work closely with external vendors and purchasing departments to select equipment components, establish specifications, manage material take-offs, requisitions, and vendor orders. Coordinate efforts to ensure cost control, adherence to project schedules, and seamless manufacturing processes.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Demonstrate the ability to work independently and within interdisciplinary team environments. Perform all duties professionally and promptly, contributing to the overall success of projects.
  • Problem-solving and Cost Control: Address technical and practical challenges while maintaining strict adherence to cost controls. Approach problems from both technical and practical perspectives to ensure effective solutions.
  • Documentation Management: Prepare, review, and issue various project documentation including instrument schedules and lists, document index, I/O lists, cable schedules, termination drawings, instrument hookup drawings, and material take-offs. Ensure accuracy and completeness in all documentation.
  • Drawing Preparation and Review: Check and issue block diagrams, control room layouts, cable routes, instrument location plans, loop drawings, instrument hook-up details, and sizing and calculation documents. Provide guidance to designers for drawing preparation.
  • Instrument Data Sheets: Prepare and issue instrument data sheets for various field instruments including control valves, on-off valves, PCVs, MOVs, PSVs, etc. Ensure alignment with project requirements and specifications.
  • Coordination and Communication: Coordinate requirements with other disciplines and communicate effectively with project managers and team members to ensure seamless integration of instrumentation and control systems within projects.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 10+ years of experience in system controls, instrumentation and wiring.
  • Wastewater, Chemical Processing and/or Oil & Gas systems experience is preferred.
  • Experience designing PLC & control panels, PLC and HMI programming is required.
  • Must possess in depth knowledge of Automation programmable controller hardware, automation software and AC Drives
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCad.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming experience is a bonus.
  • Prior experience with SCADA system.
