A postdoctoral research scholar position is available at Singapore Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The main role is to design and fabricate novel soft gripping systems. Potential candidates should be able to independently conduct research with strong self-motivation and exploration spirit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform multiphysics modeling and simulation of soft grippers.
- Fabricate soft gripper components and structures using advanced manufacturing techniques, specifically 3D printing and other photopolymerization-based methods, ensuring the materials meet the required mechanical properties for effective and flexible gripping.
- Characterize the mechanical properties of soft materials and structures, utilizing expertise in mechanical design and characterization, to ensure reliability and efficiency in real-world applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the SGSR CREATE Programme and potentially with external partners, to integrate the multi-mode sensing array into the soft gripper system for enhanced functionality.
- Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences .
- Contribute to the mentoring and guidance of junior researchers and students, fostering an environment of learning and innovation within the project team.
Job Requirements:
- Candidates should hold a Ph.D. Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanics, Biomedical Engineering or related field.
- Expertise in mechanical engineering, soft materials, interface and surface structure.
- Solid knowledge in advanced manufacturing of soft structures.
- Solid knowledge in Modeling and mechanical simulation.
- Capable of design and assemble of device prototypes.
