Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Officer to join our dynamic finance team in Asia. This role is ideal for an ambitious young professional who is eager to gain a wide scope of exposure in the financial operations of a prestigious international law firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting of our Singapore entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and contributing to the efficient operation of the finance department.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Process supplier invoices and employee expense claims on a timely basis.
- Perform daily journal on the cash collection and ensure accurate AR matching and timely settlement.
Month-end Closing
- The role will assist the Senior Accountant for the monthly accounting close of three Singapore entities. Key tasks will include, but are not limited to, preparation of month-end journal entries, bank/balance sheet reconciliation and pre-closing trial balance/P&L review.
Audit, Tax Filing and Project
- Assist the Senior Accountant to prepare necessary audit schedules, including those for statutory audit purpose.
- Prepare quarterly GST filling and other ad hoc reports for regulatory purpose.
- Participate in the new global ERP implementation
Key Relationships:
- This role will report to the Senior Accountant and also liaise closely with Hong Kong based regional finance team.
- This role will interact with partners and senior associates, and other members of the firm.
- This role will connect with external parties for payments, local audit and tax filling.
Size and scope of the role:
- This role is primarily focused on day-to-day accounting work for 3 entities in Singapore, and is expected to deliver functional support to related areas like audit and tax filing.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Previous experience of working in an organisation across different jurisdictions and cultures would be an advantage.
Technical/Work-based Skills/Knowledge:
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality work.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and financial reporting.
- Ability to interact with partners and secretarial team.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge about Dynamix AX or Elite 3E would be an advantage.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
