Job Summary:


United Language Centre (ULC) is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to join us as our Academic Manager. The ideal candidate will have extensive international education, language center management, academic leadership, and team management experience. They should possess the ability to lead ULC's academic programs to new heights in terms of performance.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the academic operations of the ULC English Language Centre, ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational programs.
  • Develop and implement academic policies, procedures, and curriculum in alignment with the center's goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage a team of language instructors, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of instructors, conducting regular observations and providing constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate academic and administrative activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement, motivation, and success.
  • Stay updated on developments in language teaching methodologies, technologies, and industry trends to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Handle student inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on academic performance, program outcomes, and future initiatives for management review.
  • Contribute to the marketing and promotion of the ULC's programs and services through participation in recruitment events and outreach activities.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in English language teaching, TESOL, TEFL, TESOL or CELTA required (in lieu of experience).
  • At least 8 years of experience in English language teaching, with a minimum of 4 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent organizational and managerial abilities.
  • Sound knowledge of language teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and assessment practices.
  • Experience with educational technology tools and platforms for language learning and instruction.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills to address the diverse needs of students and staff.
  • Understanding of international education standards and accreditation processes is an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and promote diversity and inclusion.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with best practices in language education.
  • Teaching as required to meet operational demands.
