HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGER

Chem-solv Technologies Pte Ltd.

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Hazardous Waste Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the proper handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with Singapore regulations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of hazardous waste management practices and possess the ability to communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders effectively.


Role Responsibility

  • To ensure all aspects of Health & Safety, Environment and Quality Assurance within Waste Operations on sites under your responsibility are compliant.
  • Legislative compliance. Ensuring that all aspects of waste operations on sites under your responsibility are conducted by all relevant statutory requirements and Codes of Practice.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Singapore regulations about hazardous waste management.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive hazardous waste management plans and procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate hazardous waste management practices, procedures, and equipment to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular inspections of hazardous waste storage areas and work sites to identify and address potential safety hazards.
  • Manage the effluent sampling and testing programme ensuring samples are taken, stored, and despatched in accordance with requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to personnel involved in the handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Manage Client relationships and expectations. Maintain formal and informal communications with Clients and Customers as required.
  • Coordinate with external agencies, such as regulatory authorities and waste disposal facilities, to ensure proper waste management practices are followed.
  • Maintain and develop a positive working culture and team environment for employees through sound leadership, effective communication and delegation.
  • Develop staff competence, confidence, capabilities and efficiency in the field of Hazardous Waste management.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees to promote awareness and understanding of hazardous waste management protocols and best practices.
  • Ensure personal training and training records are up to date.
  • Provide expert waste advice to Client and support partner waste producers, in conjunction with other waste staff and waste contractors.
  • Provide waste data and progress Waste Operation’s objectives
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all hazardous waste management activities, including waste inventories, disposal manifests, and regulatory reports.
  • Continuous review of the Waste Operations instructions and documentation.
  • Follow all relevant SOP's and correctly use all IT systems as set out in policies
  • Participate in emergency response activities and provide guidance on appropriate actions to mitigate risks associated with hazardous materials incidents.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to hazardous waste management to ensure compliance and recommend improvements.


Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of Singapore regulations about hazardous waste management.
  • Excellent understanding of hazardous waste storage, transportation, and disposal techniques.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address potential safety hazards.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in using computer software and databases for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
  • Knowledge of emergency response protocols and procedures related to hazardous materials incidents.
  • Familiarity with environmental sustainability practices and waste reduction strategies.
  • Experience in auditing waste operations and facilities
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
