Business Need / Purpose of Role
The Marine Survey and Inspection Division (MS&I) is tasked to promote and strengthen the company’s capability as a
reliable and trusted service provider for the maritime industry. The bunker surveyor is also responsible to safeguard the
integrity and reputation of the Port of Singapore with regards to bunkering.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The scope of a bunker surveyor’s work during his on-board attendance requires him to:
- Perform Bunker Quantity Survey (BQS) in compliance with SS600:2014/SS648:2019, documenting all on-board
bunkering activities. - Perform additional marine surveying tasks as required, including conducting inspections, assessments, and
verifications related to various aspects of marine activities and survey. - Conduct bunker quantity checks throughout the entire bunker operations following the Inchcape Standard Operating
Procedure (SOP) for BQS and take appropriate enforcement actions in case of protests. - Ensure accurate, comprehensive, and timely submission of all survey documentation on Inchcape letterhead,
meeting all customer requirements. - Monitor all aspects of bunker operations, including coordinating bunkering activities in port and collaborating closely
with the agency department to optimize turnaround time. - Conduct physical inspections and measurements of bunker fuel on vessels to ensure precise quantity and quality
assessments. - Verify bunker fuel deliveries and remaining quantities on ships, maintaining meticulous records and documentation.
- Inspect tanks, pipelines, and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and industry best
practices. - Effectively communicate with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and address issues
promptly. - Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to maintain professional standards in bunker
surveying.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Team player with good interpersonal, communication and time management skill.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be mentally and physically fit and be on standby after working hours
Education & Experience
- Holder of Diploma in Nautical/Maritime Transportation/Marine Engineering studies or equivalent.
- Must be a Certified Bunker Surveyor under MPA Singapore
- Knowledge of marine fuel operations, measurements, and equipment.
