Pre-school Teacher, up to $3000

Duties:

Children’s Learning & Development (include Curriculum and Pedagogy)

  • Prepare the concept planner based on lesson plan given, including clear objectives and learning outcomes that will engage children and to meet varying needs and learning styles of children.
  • Modify (if necessary) and carry out appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment and reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of children.
  • Prepare creative activities in arts and craft, story-telling, imaginative games, singing and listening to music.
  • Prepare outdoor games for children to play that improve their coordination, concentration and motor skills.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet children’s varying needs and interests.
  • Plan and prepare class projects, field trips and other experiential activities and guide children in learning from these activities.
  • Develop and shape children’s character and moral values.
  • Be a team player in projects, centre activities and coverage of peers’ duties where necessary.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of lesson plan and feedback to Principal

Custodial Care

  • Be respectful, responsive and reciprocal with each child.
  • Ensure safety and well-being of children at all times.
  • Inculcate proper eating habits and personal hygiene.
  • Settle new children by making them feel secure.
  • Ensure correct medication is given to the child.
  • Attend to children’s basic needs by feeding them, showering, dressing them and changing their diapers. (IC)

Class Management

  • Establish and implement rules for behaviour and procedure for maintaining order.
  • Have a classroom management system to ensure class runs smoothly.
  • Implement positive discipline when required.

Evaluation

  • Observe and evaluate children’s performance, behaviour, social development and physical health and make note of progress.
  • Conduct assessment of children’s abilities and progress and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental or health-related problems and discuss them with supervisor, parents/guardians for follow-up.
  • Prepare reports and portfolios on children.

Environment

  • Ensure classroom, equipment and facilities are clean, well-maintained, safe and secure at all times.
  • Decorate classroom to keep it current 4 times a year.
  • Organise and label materials, and display children’s work in a manner appropriate for their age and perceptual skills.
  • Perform basic cleaning duties such as disinfecting toys and equipment or cleaning up areas after mealtimes or snacks.
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures.

Collaborating with Families and Community

  • Engage families/community through activities and plans by Principal (e.g. Chinese New Year Celebration, reading programme).
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with children using words they can hear and understand.
  • Keep parents/guardians informed of programme expectations, activities and progress of child.

Child Safety

  • Maintain close supervision to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child within or outside the centre at all times when the children are in our care.

Child Management

  • Maintain respectful, responsive and reciprocal relationships with children at all times.

Professional Development

  • Attend training, workshops, conferences in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Share best practices or learning acquired.

Professionalism

  • Exercise integrity at all times.
  • Live up to company’s mission, vision and values.

Duration:

  • 3 months contract, subject to extension

Location:

  • Sengkang (might be deployed to another location based on business needs or on an exigency basis)

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm (6 hours per day)

Salary:

  • up to $3000 based on experience

Requirements:

  • Minimum O level with 1-2 years working in education centre
