About the role:
We are looking for Senior Tax Specialist to join our APAC tax team, based in Singapore.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Providing tax compliance services for the APAC region including the filing of tax returns for Wiley entities covering both direct and indirect taxes (e.g. corporate income tax, withholding tax, VAT/GST and transfer pricing);
- Working with the respective appointed tax agents and tax service providers in the APAC region, as well as the regional controllership teams; and
- Supporting the Global tax team in servicing the various Wiley stakeholders.
How you will make an impact:
- Providing tax compliance services for the APAC region covering both direct and indirect taxes (e.g. corporate income tax, withholding tax, VAT/GST and transfer pricing)
- Managing all tax filing deadlines for the APAC region
- Preparing/reviewing tax returns, including dealing with tax audits/queries, and articulating the tax risks and opportunities
- Ensuring that there is proper reporting, compliance and documentation for tax purposes
- Working with the respective appointed tax agents and tax service providers in the APAC region, as well as the regional controllership teams
- Managing external tax agents and tax service providers to ensure timely and accurate deliverables, including reviewing their work
- Ensuring that all tax filing deadlines for the APAC region are met and complied with
- Dealing with tax inquiries and assist in resolution of tax issues with the Tax Authorities where required
- Working with the regional controllership teams on tax matters
- Supporting the Global tax team in tax risk management and servicing the various Wiley stakeholders
- Monitoring changes in tax laws or administrative practice and analyse implications, including staying up to date on various tax developments; and effectively applying tax knowledge relevant to Wiley business operations
- Assisting in improving tax processes that create efficiencies by developing or implementing best practices on tax compliance initiatives
- Assisting in developing tax sharing content and conduct tax sharing sessions to internal stakeholders within the Wiley Group
- Participating in other ad-hoc projects where required
We are looking for people who:
- Degree in Accountancy/ACCA/CPA or equivalent
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience, with working background in an MNC environment or Accounting firm.
- Familiar with tax laws and tax treaties within the APAC region.
- Familiarity with US MNC environment is a plus.
- Knowledge of SAP would be desirable.
- Familiarity with accounting standards a plus.
- Strong numeracy skill, including being meticulous with keen attention to details.
- Conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Able to work under reasonable pressure and meet tight deadlines; Keen eye for details; Hands-on team player with the ability to multi-task.
- Fluency and good command of English.
