Communications Manager

XCL World Academy has a vacancy for a Communications Manager who is highly energetic, team-oriented, and customer-service focused.

The successful incumbent will assist the Associate Director of Parent Relations and Communications (DOPRE) to execute strategies to improve parent communications and engagement. He/she will implement effective communications channels and campaigns for both XWA and XAA. The ideal candidate should be an experienced customer-focused team player who brings enthusiasm and a proactive mindset.

Main Responsibilities

  • Working together with the DOPRE to regularly monitor and review the effectiveness of existing internal communication strategies, practices and platforms - including the parent portal, e-newsletters, emails, text messages, social media, posters around the school.
  • Collaborate with different members of the community to build support and understanding; collate feedback and contribute to shaping the internal communications strategy.
  • Manage internal communications projects and be responsible for their execution.
  • Take ownership and accountability for the distribution of the weekly e-newsletter, including production of the video(s), writing, editing and proofing content together.
  • Manage the Parent and Staff Portals and all related content and uploads.
  • Review the school calendar and create event posters to ensure the community knows where events are taking place.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team in generating ideas and content for community publications and collaterals, and for the website.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions team on presentation content for Parent Orientations and Open Houses.
  • Oversee and support the Schools in the dissemination of important messages and news and events to the internal community through our communication platforms.
  • Provide copywriting for the Schools’ communications based on directives given by the DOPRE.
  • Manage and conduct training on the communication strategies and tools to parents and staff as appropriate, together with the Parent Relations Manager.
  • Keep abreast of activities across both Schools via effective calendar planning and ensure the school communities are well informed via the appropriate communications channels.

Person Specifications

  • Minimum Degree in Communications or other related courses.
  • Preferably with at least 3 years of communications oriented work experience.
  • Exceptional written and spoken English language skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of best writing practices for business correspondence, public relations, advertising, marketing and sales copy and for social media.
  • Polite and pleasant demeanour.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Meticulous, resourceful and with a strong sense of initiative.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • International mindset and experience is an added advantage.
  • Experience in working in a school environment is an added advantage.
