The Role


Producer (Money FM 89.3)


You will need to be highly organised and creative to make it in the world of radio production.


Radio producers are responsible for the audio content of broadcasts via radio, the internet and other mobile platforms. He/she is involved in the entire process, from generating ideas to managing the audience response after a programme.


As a producer you'll manage and work with other producers, show anchors, engineers, socials network team, sales and tech staff. You'll make sure that shows run as planned and that they are tailored to key audience demographics. You may also be involved in the coordination of a sponsored segment or programme.


Responsibilities


Specific responsibilities vary depending on the time belt, and producers may sometimes take on the role of presenters.

In general, tasks include:

  • generating and researching ideas for programmes and pitching for commissions
  • sourcing potential contributors and interviewees
  • writing and reading financial news bulletins
  • attending and contributing to pre-show and post-show briefings
  • undertake editing, interviewing and reporting duties as necessary
  • presenting programmes or managing anchors for both pre-recorded and LIVE output
  • checking that copyrights are cleared and understanding media law
  • converting text, graphics, video and audio files into other formats
  • contributing to, and making use of, an archive of audio resources which can be re-used
  • responding to audience feedback, referring on to other departments as necessary

Job Requirements

  • A recognised tertiary academic background
  • Excellent communication and written skills
  • A highly organised and creative individual
  • Highly committed and passionate individual who enjoys working in a radio production environment
  • A keen interest in business and finance news
  • Good to have experience in audio editing software such as Audacity
