Performing all mechanical work involving pre and post machining mostly by Turning. Milling and Boring may also form part of the mechanical works. Working with industrial manual and machines.
To cross train and operate laser cladding processes.
Accomplishing a whole workflow concluding of several different jobs which have to be controlled and documented.
Job Description
1. Machine parts to specifications using conventional Lathes machines and milling machines
2. To clean and lubricate machine tools, tools and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains and foreign matter
3. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using instruments like micrometer, vernier callipers, etc.
4. Inspection report and job order documentation related to machining
5. Sand blasting of components to strip off all old surfaces prior to pre-heating and cladding
6. Measure, examine and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications
7. Select the appropriate tools, machines and materials to be used in preparation of machining work
8. Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures
9. Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, accessories and materials onto machines
10. Set up, adjust and operate all of the machine tools to perform machining operations to required standards and in compliance with safety regulations
11. Meet tight and demanding repair production schedule and delivery requirements.
12. At times, evaluate sub con work and jobs which are given to vendors in terms of lead time, quality and measurements from a machinist’s perspective.
13. Suggest new tooling design and modification to existing tooling when required.
14. Participate in cost control initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
15. To learn and operate laser cladding equipment and also perform periodic maintenance on related equipment.
16. To carry out any other duties as assigned by the Superior.
Professional Experience
· At least 3 years’ hands on experience in operating conventional lathe machine and milling machine in a reputable machine shop is a must.
· Able to turn remanufactured parts – setting, counter balancing, grooving, OD, ID turning and typical operations while controlling original dimensions well
· Able to adapt to tricky geometries, derive dimensions, build fixtures and special tools. Wide exposure to turning a wide variety of parts is a plus
· Ability to operate set and conventional boring machine is a plus
· Should have experience in machining Stellite, Inconel and other exotic metals
· Parts to turn will include marine spares, industrial parts and so forth
· Experience in operating CNC lathes, conventional milling and hand grinding are added advantages
· Must have hands-on experience in using measurement tools – Vernier callipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial gauges, etc.
