Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated and skilled Post-Doctoral Research Fellows to join our dynamic research team focused on hydrogen safety and combustion modeling. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing our understanding of hydrogen safety and hazard mitigation through the development and application of computational models. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with leading experts in the field, contribute to cutting-edge research projects, and drive innovation in combustion science and technology. The position is based on Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore. The first contract will be 12 months, and renewable up to 36 months depending on the scholarly performance.

The responsibility of the positions include:

1, Develop and implement advanced computational models for simulating hydrogen safety combustion processes (e.g., ignition, deflagration, deflagration/detonation transition, and detonation).

2, Validate computational models against experimental data and benchmark simulations to ensure accuracy and reliability.

3, Collaborate with experimentalists and other researchers to design and conduct experiments for model validation and verification purposes.

4, Explore novel modeling approaches and techniques (e.g., machine learning) to improve the predictive capabilities of combustion models, with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and robustness.

5, Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at conferences and workshops to disseminate knowledge and contribute to the scientific community

6, Contribute to the development of research proposals and grant applications to secure funding for future projects.

7, Mentor graduate students and provide guidance on research methodologies, software tools, and data analysis techniques.

Qualifications

1, Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

2, Strong background in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), numerical methods, and scientific computing.

3, Expertise in combustion theory, chemical kinetics, and turbulent reacting flows.

4, Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or Fortran.

5, Experience with commercial CFD software packages (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM) and combustion modeling tools (e.g., CHEMKIN, Cantera).

6, Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and execute complex simulations and analyses.

7, Effective communication skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely in oral and written formats.

8, Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

9, Strong publication record in reputable peer-reviewed journals and a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence.
