Senior Analytical Scientist

Allozymes is hiring a distinctive and highly motivated Analytical Chemist. The scientist will execute the activities involved in the development of analytical methods and measurements for various applications. Working in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment, this role has the opportunity to work closely with other scientists and process engineers to achieve the goals.

Responsibilities

• Developing, implementing and interpreting analytical methods to evaluate and quantify chemical and biological analytes from biotransformations and fermentations using HPLC, UPLC, GC-FID, LC-MS, GC-MS, Combiflash, etc.
• Working independently and with project teams to provide support and assistance to all phases of protein and strain engineering projects.
• Develop, validate, transfer sample preparation and analytical quantification methods and the relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Support incoming and outgoing analytical method transfers, method alignment & validation, SOP generation and testing
• Manage validation reports and certificates of analysis (COAs)
• Manage analysis of large data sets using statistical tools and utilisation of the LIMS system to track samples and analyses
• Maintain analytical instrumentation and associated maintenance logs, troubleshooting instruments as needed
• Maintain a safe and efficient workplace, following safe lab practices.

Qualifications and Experience

• PhD in chemistry, biochemistry or other relevant disciplines or relevant industrial experience
• 10+ years of industrial experience is necessary
• Deep understanding of analytical concepts related to separations, analyte detection, method development for various throughputs, and qualitative/quantitative measurement with various platforms
• Experience in preparing and handling analytes obtained from biotransformation and fermentation
• Deep understanding of SOP establishment, COA preparation
• Experience in protein engineering or directed evolution projects is a plus
• Experience in data processing and streamlining in LIMS systems
• Experience in mentoring and leading team
• Strong hands-on experience using wet lab facilities
