What you'll do:
As an Assistant Accountant, your primary responsibility will be maintaining the general ledger and ensuring that all accounting records are processed accurately and on time. You will also assist with the preparation of revenue and recharge invoices. Your role will extend to assisting with quarterly VAT and GST returns for both UK and Singapore operations. You will provide crucial support during annual audits and tax compliance processes. Additionally, you will act as a backup for accounts payable tasks when necessary. Your commitment to adhering to the FCA’s Conduct Rules will be essential.
- Process general ledger journals including month-end activities
- Maintain general ledger records accurately and timely
- Raise revenue and recharge invoices as required
- Assist with quarterly VAT and GST returns (UK and Singapore)
- Provide assistance with annual audit and tax compliance processes
- Act as a backup for accounts payable tasks including supplier payments, staff expenses, manual payments, and associated ledger entries
- Support treasury function tasks such as payments and bank reconciliation
- Adhere to the FCA’s Conduct Rules, setting basic standards of good personal conduct
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Assistant Accountant position is someone who is proficient in Excel and Word, numerate, deadline-focused, reliable, accurate with high attention to detail. You should be able to work calmly under pressure while maintaining accuracy in your work. Your ability to work effectively in a team environment will be crucial. You must be able to quickly assimilate new information or requirements, be organised in your approach to work, have sound communication skills, good interpersonal skills, understands the need for a financial control environment and adheres to procedures.
