Main purpose of the role:
To be responsible for the patching and vulnerability management of all Windows Server, VMWare ESXi.
Roles & Responsibilities
- System Administration of Windows/VMWare environment.
- Extensive Experience in ESXi patching.
- Perform Patch assessment and recommend/plan deployment.
- To perform patching of ESXi, VMWare using the Tools that customer have with SOP based approach.
- Monitor systems to ensure all patching is completed successfully and track patch management metrics, producing reports on compliance & effectiveness.
- To perform some basic task on VM using Vcenter.
- To escalate on all major patching and any other issues to L2/L3 teams where appropriate.
- To raise appropriate changes in order for patch implementation and adhere to internal Change Control and ITIL standards.
- To ensure all communications on patch schedule, change planning & approval are done with Apps/Business Owners.
- To carry out any other task associated with the role as reasonably requested.
- Bios upgrades and firmware upgrades.
- Log monitoring/maintenance.
Skills Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology.
- 9-12 years of experience in Windows System Administration.
- Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal Skills.
- The candidate should have worked in a SLA driven environment.
- Ability to work in a flexible, team-oriented and constantly changing environment.
- Able to work on weekends as per Roster and perform On-call support (during weekdays) as and when needed.
- Knowledge on Active Directory Management (OU/GPO/Forest and domain config and etc).
- Experience on Patch management tools like BigFix, SCCM etc.
- Experience on Automation of Pre and Post patching tasks.
- Hand-on knowledge on various RAID technologies (RAID 0+1, RAID 1, RAID 5 etc.) (Should have basic knowledge)
- Knowledge on Clustering (geo cluster, multinodes passive/active) ( Should have basic knowledge
Must Have Skills
- Knowledge of Windows 2008/2012/2016/2019 Servers, VMWare ESXi.
- Hyper-V / Vmware - Deployment and management of hyper V VMs.
- Patch management and Vulnerability Management.
- Troubleshooting skills in OS & VMWare related issues.
