Job Description
The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Fellow in the Department of Physiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The lab aims to identify the cell-intrinsic mechanism and extracellular factors that hasten muscle function and mass during aging. We utilize genetically modified mouse models and to pinpoint the crucial effectors of muscle growth signaling pathways that could potentially be targeted for therapeutic intervention in elderly suffers from sarcopenia.
Appointments will be made on a 1 year contract basis, with the possibility of extension.
Purpose of the post
We seek a detail-orientated and self-motivated research fellow to join our team.
Main duties and responsibilities
The research fellow will be expected to lead the design and implementation of studies aimed at understanding the roles of novel regulators of sarcopenia development and frailty.
Qualifications
The applicant should have a PhD or equivalent degree in medicine, molecular biology or related fields at the time of employment.
Other requirements:
- At least one first authorship publication in peer-reviewed journals for further consideration.
- At least four years of work experience on rodent models of exercise, muscle regeneration, behaviour study, flow cytometry, and electronic microscopy imaging.
- Experience with cell culture, preferably with primary satellite cells / myoblasts would be an advantage.
- Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills in English would be a plus.
