Senior Officer - Strategic Partnerships & External Communication

Tara is looking to hire a Senior Officer - Strategic Partnerships & External Communications to:

1) help support and grow our current funding partners,

2) support the cultivation of strong partnerships with new donors, especially in Asia

3) develop our external branding materials including annual reports, website, and communication tools


Duties and Responsibilities:

The Senior Officer - Strategic Partnerships and External Communications will be responsible for the following:

  • Cultivate and grow the funding base
  • Support the Strategic Partnerships Director in the development and implementation of the funder stewardship plan
  • Work with other colleagues at Tara to expand the number of high-value individual donors and philanthropic foundations that are supporting climate action in Asia, specifically in the Tara region
  • Proposal Development and Grant Reporting
  • Review current funding proposals, and grant reports, pulling input from other teams
  • members as needed
  • Identify and communicate risks or potential issues that could affect the proposal development, define potential solutions and liaise with Tara's legal and operations
  • Ensure timely submission of proposals, progress reports, and any other deliverables
  • External Communications support:
  • Organise and coordinate key funder meetings
  • Create presentations and other promotional materials for funders and other key stakeholders
  • Drafts Tara annual funders report with support from the Tara program team
  • Responsible for the development and ongoing updates of the Tara external media
  • platforms e.g. Tara's website, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook etc.
  • People Management & operational responsibilities, including:
  • Promote a culture of excellence, service orientation, high performance, and continuous improvement
  • Provide direct supervision to the Strategic Partnerships Officer
  • Mentor staff and oversee their professional development
  • Demonstrate Tara's Values in every action
  • Actively participates in Leadership Team activities
  • Abide by Tara’s policies, procedures and practices
  • As and when required other responsibilities and projects will be allocated by line management in consultation with the post holder.

In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism in working with multiple stakeholders
  • from diverse nationalities and backgrounds
  • Experience working on energy and climate change issues is not a must, but there must be a genuine interest in the issue and the ability to learn quickly
  • Superb verbal and written skills in English and other Asian languages are an asset
  • Strong ability to consolidate information and data and present them in a concise and compelling manner
  • Strong skills in managing and visualizing data and numbers;
  • Strong presentation skills for communication with individual donors, senior executives of
  • trusts, foundations, business and opinion leaders
  • Proven track record of working in an environment that demands professionalism, discretion and confidentiality
  • Excellent project management and coordination skills
  • Skilled in creating visually compelling PowerPoint presentations.
  • Able to solve problems resourcefully, efficiently and independently with a proactive, “can-do” attitude to challenges and changes
  • Used to working flexibly at a fast pace in remote settings with multi-cultural teams across multiple time zones
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally as and when required
  • Embraces Tara’s mission and identifies with and is committed to living the Tara Values


  • Education
  • Advanced degree or relevant expertise in a relevant field such as renewable energy, environmental management, business administration, economics, or sustainable development.
