The Asia Pacific Indirect Tax Manager is expected to apply thorough grasp of the fundamentals of both VAT/GST and Import/Export Duty regimes to all the group’s manufacturing and commercial activities across the Asia Pacific Region (including for this role as Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Japan, India, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Bangladesh, Pakistan & Sri Lanka).
The role requires a Manager with an appetite for compliance, planning, advice, execution, tax agency management and project management skills. The ability to succinctly contribute to numerous projects at any one time, whilst keeping technically current is critical. The successful candidate does not need to have experience in each of the jurisdictions listed above, but must be able to demonstrate an ability to apply their knowledge in new markets.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, short, easily understood and actionable advice to non-indirect tax specialists.
- Liaise with other SME’s to deliver complete solutions to problems.
- Anticipate issues and communicate them appropriately.
- Support any compliance demands faced by the business.
- Manage and support any audits, challenges and litigations.
- Own issues.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience specialising in Indirect Taxes.
- Technically competent in both VAT/GST and Duties-excise tax/working knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills (English is the business language of the group).
- Industry specific experience a plus, but not essential.
- Demonstrable ability to manage various projects simultaneously.
