About the Team
The team dedicated to time series databases oversees the complete data engine for the TikTok backend service monitor. This monitor serves as the fundamental system ensuring the reliability of the site and checking the health status of the service. The team's primary goal is to maintain the systems at their utmost availability and implement highly automated systems and pipelines. They specifically concentrate on enhancing scalability, optimizing performance, and controlling costs for a data set exceeding 100 petabytes, aiming to establish a cutting-edge observability infrastructure in the industry. Joining this skilled team means contributing to the management of a multi-tenant time series database.
What you will be doing:
1. Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of time series database systems — from system design consulting through to launch reviews, deployment, operation and refinement;
2. Deliver tools, and software to improve the reliability and scalability of services, automate operations and improve R&D efficiency;
3. Build availability of large-scale services deployed across global data centres;
4. Plan, manage and optimize cloud resource utilization, ensuring SLA of large-scale clusters;
5. Measure and monitor availability, latency and overall service health;
6. Practice sustainable incident response and postmortems;
7. Work closely with product managers to deliver industry-leading time series database products.
Qualifications
What you should have:
- Bachelor or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field;
- At least 4 years in software engineering and 1 year of relevant experience in the DevOps field;
- Skilled in SQL and at least one programming language of Go, Java;
- Experience in Observability technologies(metrics, tracing , logging and Alarm, page duty, root cause analysis, SLO) is preferred;
- Solid communication and collaboration skills.
