We are looking for a talented Lead Project Manager to join our expanding Programme Management function in Dyson’s Design and Product Experience (D&PE) team. The D&PE function spans a number of design disciplines (Industrial Design, Packaging, CMF, Product Experience) with designers in both the UK and Singapore. This exciting position will be based in St. James’ Power Station and will be responsible for driving the downstream delivery of innovative and user-centric product designs. Working across all product categories, to create the best holistic user experience.

About the role

The Lead Project Manager role will be responsible for driving D&PE’s functions to deliver across multiple projects and product categories, ensuring they have clear scope and deadlines to work towards in this creative and dynamic environment.

  • Applying and adapting Project Management best practices to suit the creative environment.
  • Maintaining integrated cross-discipline schedules, highlighting dependencies and negotiating delivery dates with wider Project Leadership Team members where necessary.
  • Managing project-level risks, actively identifying mitigations and escalating to the D&PE Programme Manager, and Project Leadership Team where appropriate.
  • Creating action plans and negotiating with senior stakeholders, to solve issues quickly and pragmatically as they occur.
  • Working closely with SEA D&PE team managers to set resource demand and ensure sufficient allocation.
  • Acting as the key point of contact to communicate D&PE project status to a wide range of stakeholders. Building relationships with business functions globally such as Category, Design Engineering, Global Connectivity and Electronics.
  • Considering a wider category view; identifying opportunities to platform design features across projects, to drive efficiencies and maximize design time.
  • Working closely with designers, facilitating collaboration between disciplines and coaching core soft skills.
  • Actively contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to develop D&PE’s PM capability.


About You

  • Outstanding project management capabilities (i.e. planning, scheduling, risk management, status reporting, issue resolution, resource management, and stakeholder management).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to build productive working relationships, influence and confidently negotiate with a variety of stakeholders. Able to listen and articulate complex issues concisely and accurately.
  • Formal Project Management qualification (e.g. APMP, PRINCE2, Agile) or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Working within creative or product development teams, managing ambiguous and dynamic project briefs.
  • Working in manufacturing environments, with a clear understanding of product development timings.
  • Managing project stakeholders in global cross-functional teams, identifying and resolving conflict.
  • Leading and inspiring project teams.
  • Applying project management principles, theories & concepts independently in complex situations.
