General
This position is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the TOX (Thermal Oxidizer) plant, advanced water treatment facility, incinerator, and disposal facilities (loading / unloading) to ensure the efficient, safe, and economical treatment of wastewater, disposal and within regulatory limits.
Purpose of the role
This role is responsible for:
- Manage day to day operations of TOX facilities and maintenance of the system.
- The monitoring team shall sample and test the TOX boiler for conductivity, pH and other assigned parameters.
- Shall work with assigned qualified laboratory for test samplings for Legionella, environmental related parameters.
- Shall monitor the system setpoints, thresholds, and respond with corrective actions followed by escalation of any deviation or variation through the escalation processes.
- Daily inspection of the system, to manage PTW (permit-to-work) system, qualified risk assessor, to prepare ECC (energy change control) or LOTO (lock-out Tag-out) processes.
- Involved in IPT Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings.
- Work on projects whenever assigned by IPT/IFM.
- Understand DI (data integrity) importance and also to involve in DI Gemba weekly.
- Responsible and participation for TOX area for both internal and external audit inspections.
- Management of TOX align with IPT for schedule plant shutdowns or project related.
- Responsible for investigating incident reports, responding to relevant HazOp studies and completion and follow-up of specific risk assessments.
- Able to analyze and troubleshoot, able to draw accurate conclusions from analysis to support decision making and makes timely decisions for the operations.
- To review and adhere to SOP (standard operating procedures).
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure proper discharging according to regulatory requirements e.g. NEA, PUB.
- Accountability to the monitoring of the TOX system and the understanding of the system workflow as to ensure system optimization varying to the plant production schedule.
- Monitor the daily operational parameters and update in Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings.
- Perform material handling duties including forklift/reach-truck operation driving.
- Track, manage and report the chemical inventory for the chemical usage within the TOX areas.
- Operation and maintenance of the cooling tower.
- Evaluate impact of any new waste components through sampling and analysis.
- Manage disposal programs and ensure safety and risk assessments made for work processes.
- Documentations of solid / liquid waste to licensed waste collector.
- Managing the TIW companies and recording the required waste manifest and submit to the plant for compliance and record purposes.
- Analyze hazardous condition and assign risk assessment codes for use by departments to prioritize and budget corrective actions.
- Adhere to and comply with the company and departmental procedures, health & safety rules and regulations, and comply with Good Housekeeping at all times.
- Supervise and oversee Third Party Contractors, where applicable
- Develop other task as and when assigned by line managers.
Education
- ITE or Diploma in Chemistry, Engineering or Environmental
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in environmental engineering in a manufacturing environment. Preferably from chemical, petrochemical or pharmaceutical industries.
- Worked in waste treatment plant or TOX related previously would be preferred.
Functional competencies:
· To possess Boiler Class 1 attendant is necessary
· Possess a valid Forklift driving licence
· Demonstrate proficiency in automation systems Delta V, PLC
· Demonstrate proficiency in PC skills , Microsoft office and SAP system
· Demonstrate capability in troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
