We are assisting them in their search for a skilled and experienced Finance Manager to join their team and play a crucial role in their financial management and growth.
Role Overview: The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities and operations of the organization, ensuring financial health, stability, and growth. This hands-on role requires a candidate with trading experience, as well as the ability to thrive in a startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management, Planning, and Reporting:
- Manage and review weekly and monthly reporting deliverables.
- Lead the quarterly forecast and annual budgeting process to achieve financial objectives and meet deadlines.
- Align management functions and deliverables with business objectives to facilitate value-added decision-making.
- Review reconciliations in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Provide high-quality financial analysis and reporting to stakeholders.
- Ensure appropriate external and internal audit arrangements are in place and manage the audit process.
- Stay informed about internal and external changes impacting financial procedures, processes, and legislation.
Governance:
- Ensure adherence to group governance, policies, standards, statutory, and legal compliance.
- Maintain the integrity of financial systems in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
- Address issues raised by internal and external audits and implement measures to ensure compliance.
Leadership and Management:
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance efficiencies within the Finance Department.
- Take accountability for managing the finance team.
- Develop and implement development and training plans for team members to promote their growth and retention.
- Motivate teams to excel in a high-volume and time-critical environment.
Stakeholder Management:
- Effectively engage and communicate with colleagues, clients, suppliers, regulators, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Professional Experience:
- Degree in Accounting (e.g., BAcc, BCom Accounts)
- Professional financial qualification (e.g., CA(SA), CIMA, CFA)
- 10 years of experience in accounting/finance, with at least 4 years in a managerial role within a large corporate environment.
- Experience working on an ERP system.
- Experience in commodities or trading industry
- Previous experience within the mining industry.
- Previous experience working with forex.
