As a Stowage Advisor, you will be the backbone of our cargo operations, providing expert advice and support on all matters relating to cargo planning, stowage, lashing, and securing. You will work closely with our voyage management teams, port captains, and local operational staff, ensuring that our company’s policies and procedures are followed while maintaining safe practice.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to cargo handling inquiries promptly.
- Develop cost-effective stowage solutions, considering cargo care and safety.
- Prepare lifting and lashing plans, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate with local ops staff and regional office on stowage issues.
- Maintain and update company manuals and internal information sources.
- Assist in voyage management and report preparation as required.
- Plan and oversee loading/discharge operations, ensuring cargo care standards.
- Provide feedback on supplier performance and support contract renewals.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance to meet company standards.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a related position or as a Senior Deck Officer.
- Expertise in break bulk and project cargo handling.
- Proficiency in loading programs and software (e.g., AUTOCAD, MSOffice, Lashcon).
- Strong knowledge of international rules and regulations (IMDG code, IMSBC code, etc.).
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Methodical, organized, and detail oriented.
