Summary
- Investigate the characteristics of garments to make sure they comply with quality standards
- Support design and buying teams through all stages of product development, from design to manufacturing
What you'll do
- Handle all technical product related tasks and functions from design concept to sample approval processes
- Provide technical advice to supplier, review and approve the product
- Communicate effectively with suppliers to ensure the standard
- Development and maintain technical manuals and standards
- Create measurement charts
- Check fitting on dummies / live models
- Check and amend paper pattern, collect and store digital pattern after approval in the system
- Translate design brief into technical product specification including grading to different measurements
- Measure samples
- Check appearance before and after wash (if applicable)
- Comment pre-production samples and create reports to supplier
- Check workmanship and give recommendations on how to improve the workmanship
- Update all company systems and lists related to above tasks on a daily basis
- Act as mentor for new joiners
- Support and guide Garment Technicians and Junior Garment Technicians with experienced knowledge if needed
- Initiate collaboration with cross functional teams and suppliers for any upcoming challenges
What you'll need
- Minimum of 3 - 4 years of work experience in technical role in the garment industry
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required in from Polytechnic uni or IVE graduate in Textile or related studies
- Fluency in English is required
- Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese an advantage (but not prerequisite) to liaise with Mandarin and/or Cantonese speaking only stakeholders
- Proficiency in MS Office required
- Technical competence to do fitting, technical assessment and pattern adjustment
- Strong knowledge of pattern making, garment technical testing and raw materials
