Shipping Operations Analyst (Dry Bulk Commodities Trading Company)

Job Overview:

To handle the operations of shipments, ensuring smooth execution of voyages, communications with various parties (trading desk, shipbrokers, shipowners, shipping agencies, etc) to find solutions to resolve shipment issues.


Your duties and responsibilities shall notably include, but shall not be limited to, the following:

  • Report to Managing Director on all work as needed for smooth and efficient operation in liaison with Managing Director and Board of Director (BOD)
  • Always communicate with copy to supervisor and all relevant persons in charge of business.
  • Attend email full time to check all the incoming/outgoing mails from/to brokers and all other customers, agents, bunker traders, and so on in relation to our business
  • Check port information and disbursement accounts
  • Check and declare laycans
  • Assist on vessel nominations, ensure all in good order and push for acceptance in due course
  • Monitor closely on the movements of the vessels at load ports and discharge ports
  • Coordinate with relevant parties to ensure all necessary for the loading/discharging operations are in place, e.g. appointment of load port/discharge port agents, pre-stowage plan, letter of indemnity, Bills of Lading, etc.
  • Issue freight invoices and give instructions for payments accordingly
  • Work on laytime calculations and settle disputes if any
  • Send Sailing Instruction to the master, if needed
  • Check always counterparty risk level and do thorough backgrounds check of all Head owners & Disponent owners & Charterers that we are negotiating business with and take approval of new clients with whom we have not done any business in the past from management / supervisor.
  • Declare vessels to P&I club
  • Foster good relationships with shipowners, shipbrokers, shipping agents, etc
  • Co-ordinate business related activities for the management.

Job Qualifications and requirements:

  • 1 to 2 years experiences, fresh graduates are also welcome
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Positive learning attitude
  • Problem solver
  • Proactive


Job Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies or related field. Other degree disciplines are welcome to apply if you are keen to develop a career in a fast paced commodity trading house
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Prior experience in post-fixture operations or related roles is a plus.
