Job Description
The Centre for Sleep and Cognition at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, invites applications for Research Fellow for Sleep and Cognitive Lab, Centre for Sleep and Cognition, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Appointments will be made on a 2-year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
Purpose of the post
The Research Fellow will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator to transform research plans into tangible outputs.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Research Fellow will be expected to:
- Assist in the conception of research plans and/or new initiatives and transforming these into working experiments or projects.
- Assist the Principal Investigator in managing scientific and administrative staff in the lab, including the training and management of research assistants, graduate and medical students.
- Assist in the preparation of IRB documents and grants.
- Oversee the procurement, set-up, maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
- Co-ordinate data collection efforts.
- Create standard operating procedures and processing pipelines for data analysis.
- Prepare manuscripts and presentations of research results at conferences and meetings.
- Assist in the preparation of lab annual reports.
Qualifications
The applicant should have:
- A PhD in neuroscience, cognitive science, computer science or psychology. Prior experience conducting sleep research is a plus.
- The ability to work both independently as well as in a team as needed.
- Good people management and communication skills.
- Ability to program experiments, use computer tools for data organisation or statistical analysis (e.g. Matlab / R / Python / SPSS / SAS).
Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
