The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for the position of Research Engineer I.
Key Responsibilities:
- Devise automation solution for microfluidic device to target research and clinical use.
- Convert customers’ requirement into product design and prepare technical drawings and bill of materials (BOM).
- Plan and conduct product evaluation, functional test, failure analysis (FA) and create test report.
- Conduct product testing at customers’ site and collect feedback for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with vendors and team members on tooling, manufacturing, and costing.
- Provide weekly progression report on product design, manufacturing status and costing.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Or Electrical Engineering.
- Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Solidworks, Creo, NX, Inventor, etc.
- Proven tracked record in automation solution or machine development.
- Preferred prior experience in CNC, rapid prototyping, injection molding and microfluidics
- Sound knowledge on electrical circuit and microcontroller like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, STM32.
- Able to work independently and detailed oriented.
- Good written and verbal communication in English.
- Good communication skill in explaining technical knowledge in a comprehensive manner.
- Preferred prior experience on medical regulatory compliance (ISO 13485, FDA, MDR, IVDR).
