Job Description: Writer (Research & Advocacy) - AWARE Singapore

Position: Writer (Part time / Full Time / Contract options available)

Department: Advocacy, Research and Communications

Citizenship: Singaporean/PR

Salary range: S$3,500 - S$4,000

Job Summary

Are you a passionate writer with a strong understanding of feminist issues? Do you keep a close eye on social issues in Singapore? Aware Singapore is looking for a talented writer to join our Research and Advocacy team (part-time/contract basis).

In this role, you will play a key role in amplifying our voice and advocacy efforts. You will be responsible for crafting compelling written content across various formats, from in-depth policy papers to concise social media posts.


Responsibilities:

  • Work with the research team to analyse and report on women's rights issues in Singapore
  • Develop, write, and edit clear, concise, and engaging content, including:
    • Powerful research reports and policy papers to influence change
    • Compelling press releases and media statements to capture public attention
  • Tailor writing style and tone to suit different audiences and platforms
  • Work collaboratively with the Research and Advocacy team to ensure content aligns with strategic goals
  • Proofread and edit written materials with a meticulous eye for accuracy and clarity
  • Support the wider communications team with social media content creation, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in writing serious and informative copy (minimum 4 years)
  • Journalism background is a plus
  • Strong understanding of feminism and gender issues in Singapore
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Ability to write in a clear, concise, and engaging style, adapting tone for different audiences
  • Familiarity with the Singaporean political and civil society landscape
  • Experience with social media management is a plus
  • A commitment to AWARE Singapore's mission and values
