Job Summary
Are you a passionate writer with a strong understanding of feminist issues? Do you keep a close eye on social issues in Singapore? Aware Singapore is looking for a talented writer to join our Research and Advocacy team (part-time/contract basis).
In this role, you will play a key role in amplifying our voice and advocacy efforts. You will be responsible for crafting compelling written content across various formats, from in-depth policy papers to concise social media posts.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the research team to analyse and report on women's rights issues in Singapore
- Develop, write, and edit clear, concise, and engaging content, including:
- Powerful research reports and policy papers to influence change
- Compelling press releases and media statements to capture public attention
- Tailor writing style and tone to suit different audiences and platforms
- Work collaboratively with the Research and Advocacy team to ensure content aligns with strategic goals
- Proofread and edit written materials with a meticulous eye for accuracy and clarity
- Support the wider communications team with social media content creation, as needed
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in writing serious and informative copy (minimum 4 years)
- Journalism background is a plus
- Strong understanding of feminism and gender issues in Singapore
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Ability to write in a clear, concise, and engaging style, adapting tone for different audiences
- Familiarity with the Singaporean political and civil society landscape
- Experience with social media management is a plus
