Job Scope:
- Responsible for daily administration on SAP landscapes for database administration on DB2 LUW.
- Resolve incident, change and problem tickets.
- Work with the SAP Basis team to manage operation tasks on daily, weekly, monthly basis.
- Install, configure and upgrade/patch DB2 environments.
- Responsible for daily tasks arising out of maintenance and upkeep of the SAP/DB2 environment.
- Integration of DB2 environments with 3rd party environments if required.
- Possess good knowledge in Linux administration.
- Plan and implement space management, data movement, permissions / security.
- Monitor and tune database performance, and troubleshoot database related problems.
- Establish procedures for backup, recovery, and reorganization.
- Code shell scripts to simplify DBA tasks.
- Maintain databases, table spaces, indexes, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, etc.
- Schedule utilities, including backup and recovery, reorgs and runstats.
- Perform exports / imports / loads of data.
- Provide mentoring, advice on project process, and DBMS technical support to a team of DBA members.
- Collaborate with developers and architects in planning and deployment of new projects.
- Took defect preventive measures in keeping the commercial and internal customers satisfied with service outage (24x7 steady state support).
- Install, configure and maintain DB2 environments and establish connectivity to target systems.
- Manage critical outages and related situations, i.e. from a system outage status until the system is brought back to a productive and steady state status.
- Provide collaboration services to SAP based development and support teams.
- Support project requirement needs and provide estimates for delivery team.
- Analyze, develop, and maintain data architectures and process models within SAP.
- Perform Oracle / DB2 database backup and recovery administration.
- Install and maintain the Oracle database software.
- Create storage database structures, stored procedures and triggers with high-level security features.
- Alter storage structures to meet the evolving needs of the company.
- Setup database user accounts.
- Tune the database to ensure optimum use of resources.
- Develop and manage SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Manage database and application users, roles, and privileges.
- Implement and validate Oracle patch sets and critical patch updates.
- Manage SQL server databases.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes.
- Monitor system's health and performance.
- Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security.
- Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time.
- Provide suggestions for solutions, including optimal index creation with SQL execution plan analysis.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
- Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement.
Job Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 8 years of relevant working experience as a Database Administrator
- Experience in 24x7 support for critical production systems, scheduled maintenance, and release deployment activities
- Understanding of both hosted and managed instances (SQL on Azure)
- Understanding of Oracle DB operations in the context of MS Azure Cloud
- Familiarity in security policies and migration plans between on-prem and cloud DB solutions
- Hands-on experience with database standards and end-user applications
- Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL
- Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding
- Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically
