1. Job Summary
As a Social Worker at New Hope Community Services, you will play a vital role in driving our mission to bring change into the lives of the displaced and disadvantaged in our community. Your responsibilities will include conducting intake assessments, providing counselling and support, and facilitating access to external resources and services. The Social Worker works collaboratively with our dedicated cross-functional teams, community partners, and stakeholders, to be a Beacon of New Hope to the displaced and disadvantaged in our community.
2. Key Responsibilities
Social Work
- Implements activities and interventions as directed by the Senior Social Worker (SSW) or Centre Head, and conduct referral services with the support of Social Work Associates (SWAs).
- Mediates disputes and facilitates the building of positive relationships within the community.
- Provide guidance and support to SWAs.
- Intake: Interview and allocate residents / clients to suitable rooms based on their profile.
- Referral: Link residents / clients up with appropriate services (Govt, Community, Private, etc.) to support the residents /clients in building stability and self-reliance.
- Record keeping, documentation, and data entry.
- Organise and facilitate the Single Room Shared Facilities (SRSF) Programme to build Authorised Occupiers’ stability, self-reliance, and social mobility. This is done through community building, empowerment, town hall meetings, residents’ committees, community gardens, life-skills workshops, etc.
- Engage Authorised Occupier(s) in a professional and therapeutic manner to understand the needs and to build rapport with residents / clients, especially those who are vulnerable members.
- Identify, develop, and review appropriate intervention strategies.
- Coordinate and attend case conferences with external agencies.
- Coordinate and monitor delivery of services with other community agencies.
- Plan and monitor therapeutic group work for specific individuals or target groups of clients.
- Identify and engage specific individuals or target groups of residents / clients for relevant group work or programmes / activities.
- Collaborate with community agencies in the planning and implementation of programmes and activities.
- Provide supervision, guidance, and advice to new Operation Officers or Social Work Associates.
- Maintain daily records, updated tenancies files of residents / clients, and prepare reports for administrative and intervention purposes.
- Manage moderate to significant disputes that may occur between co-living residents.
- Respond to incidents within rental units, such as de-escalating crisis situations and notify the Management / Housing and Development Board (HDB).

- Any other related duties in New Hope CS as assigned by the Reporting Officer.

- Case management and casework knowledge and skills.
- Risk assessment and risk management.
- Good report writing skills.
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently.
Technical Competencies
- Proficiency in IT Systems and Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Education and Experience:
- Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution
- Accredited as Registered Social Worker with SASW
- At least 2 years of relevant working experience in similar sectors
