Overview
Reporting to the team lead, an Assistant Coordinator is an ancillary staff who is responsible to work in collaboration with Professionals and Coordinators to provide assistance in clinical, administrative and technical duties, to ensure continuity of patient care in their rehabilitation process.
Job Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the following:
- Assist in clinic operational duties
- Managing daily operations of the service points assigned including front counter services, administrative and operational matters of the community clinics.
- Requisite, control and maintain good utilization of consumables, hearing aid stocks and office supplies in community clinics.
- Assist in scheduling of patients’ appointments using systems especially for vision investigations, consultations and special arrangement in community clinics.
- Work with the optometrists to ensure a positive experience for the patients along the continuum of care and devise innovative ideas to improve the delivery of care and delight patients.
- Responsible for ensuring that the environments are patient friendly, safe and spick & span.
- Assists in triaging of patients
- Triaging and assessing of all patients who are referred from specialist outpatient clinics for follow up at clinics.
- Assess the patient’s readiness and interest to be followed up at clinics.
- Synthesize assessment information to identify patient’s main concerns and prioritize care needs.
- Work in partnership with patients and families on the services and options available. Coordinate the necessary referrals accordingly.
- Document the plans, and/or triage outcomes timely and accurately in the relevant system.
- Maintain the database for all patients seen during Triage.
- Assists in clinical test or procedures
- Develop photo images such as fundus photo and for clinical examination.
- Assist optometrists to carry out procedures and investigations such as visual field and tonometry as prescribed by clinicians.
- Document the images upon completion of assessment in electronic medical records system.
- Other general duties
- Attend to ad-hoc assignments assigned by Reporting Officer.
- Assist in scheduling of patient appointments using system and confirming of patient’s attendance.
- Attend to e-mail and telephone inquiries from patients
Requirements
Qualification:
Completed at least a diploma with relevant discipline.
Experience:
- New graduate. Clinical experience not required.
- Relevant experience of 1 year and above in a similar setting is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
- A minimum of 3 to 6 months on-the-job training supervised by a Coordinator is required.
- Maintain a minimum required competency in annual competency review.
- Able to communicate well with patients especially those with vision loss
- Computer literate
