About BCS

BCS is NETS’ wholly owned subsidiary, and is an entity within the NETS Group. It manages and operates clearing and payment infrastructure for the Singapore Automated Clearing House, including Fast And Secure Transfers (FAST), Inter-bank GIRO (IBG), Cheque Truncation System (CTS), and provides services for PayNow and SGQR Central Repository.


Position Summary

The System Administrator will be expected to deliver the IT infrastructure services strategies and to manage infrastructure-related issues which directly or indirectly impact business performance. This includes the evaluation, conceptualisation, development, implementation, maintenance and support of IT infrastructure systems. The incumbent will also be required to review existing work processes and recommend areas of improvement.


Key Responsibilities

System Administration

  • Perform system administration and maintenance in a heterogeneous environment (production, DR, test) comprising of Sun Solaris servers and Linux-based servers
  • Perform system upgrade and enhancement on IT infrastructure components
  • Implement operating system and product-specific security hardening and patches
  • Monitor obsolescence of IT infrastructure components (systems)
  • Monitor expiry and perform renewal of system passwords and certificates
  • Implement a schedule of system backups and database archive operations to ensure data recoverability and business continuity.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for IT infrastructure (systems) and conduct regular disaster recovery testing and component switchover exercises to ensure usability of standby and DR equipment
  • Manage the application User Acceptance Test (UAT) and upkeep the use of UAT environment.
  • Document middleware platforms and related infrastructure as directed with respect to functionality, maintenance, and administration.
  • Provides technical support and guidance (level 3) to end-users, and other IT resources.

Incident and Problem Management

  • Provide second level system support and resolve incidents and problems in accordance to established Service Level Agreement (SLA)
  • Perform problem diagnosis on incidents and propose and implement measures to prevent recurrence

Change and Release Management

  • Schedule and release system changes to production environment in accordance to the change management process / procedures
  • Create deployment packages for application changes using the application deployment tool

Configuration Management

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database / library of all IT infrastructure components used in the production environment

Capacity and Performance Management

  • Perform infrastructure capacity monitoring and planning
  • Monitor and perform performance tuning to optimize system performance

Process Management

  • Devise and implement the underlying processes supporting IT service management, in conformance to corporate security policies and guidelines

Project Management and Support

  • Provide infrastructure (system) support to projects in accordance to the project timeline
  • Manages infrastructure enhancement / upgrade projects in accordance to established project management guidelines

Documentation

  • Develop and maintain technical and process documents to upkeep IT infrastructure

Requirements

Qualification

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or any related discipline
  • Unix and Linux Certified System Administrator certification

Experience and Technical Skills Set

  • At least 6 years of experience in system administration and support on Middleware, Unix and Linux systems
  • Experience in working with SAN for Unix and Linux Platforms
  • Experience in performing OS hardening and patching
  • Experience with enterprise backup and system monitoring and management software
  • Proficiency in scripting for Unix and Linux-based environment to automate tasks
  • Industry certification for public cloud administration with relevant experience is a plus
  • Experience in database administration is preferred
