About the role
The Engineer's role is to oversee all aspects of the Fibre project/task execution and ensure the team’s compliance regarding quality and safety standards.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Work in conjunction with the client’s and DL Team’s schedule, directives, and requests.
- Attends daily (or as requested) FIM (Fibre Installation Management) sync.
- Consolidate and prepare daily updates from the Lead and submit to the Superintendent or PM as required.
- Coordinate with the Network Engineering team for Fibre Infrastructure SOW and daily milestones.
- Ensure all tools are maintained and working accurately.
- Validates all documents required to complete the Fiber Installation Management project or task.
- Manage and control labor on assigned projects or tasks.
- Ensure the quality of work is aligned with client standards.
- Ensure Project Leads follow rules, guidelines, and processes.
- Survey completed work with QAQC Specialist.
- Supports both new deployment and live site/production requests.
- Support team to engage with new technology, manufacturers, and software.
- Develop and execute a risk mitigation plan.
- Coordinate and review Lesson Learned sync with the team.
- Develop and submit close-out docs.
- Prioritize and manage time, materials, and manpower effectively.
- Forecast manpower and labor units.
- Document lessons learned from each project.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7 + years preferred in data hall fiber installation technologies, rack infrastructure, and managing large-scale build projects.
- Certified cabling test technician (“CFTT”) and certified fiber installer (“CFI”) or Equivalent as appropriate (BICSI or FOA -fiber optic association).
- Must be capable of leading multiple Fiber Installation Management teams
- Understanding of infrastructure builds and components.
- Understanding of both copper and fiber installs, terminations, certifications, and troubleshooting.
- BCSS Safety experience or equivalent
- Understand local region install standards and code.
- A clear understanding of job safety and QAQC requirements and point of contact.
- Must know how to read/understand drawings/blueprints and port maps.
- Capable of running midsize to large projects.
- Understanding the difference between ENS turnover, provision ready, and DCC Complete.
- Competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project)
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good understanding of building systems.
- Ability to plan and organize a team effort.
- Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
