Staff Nurse / Paramedic (2 year contract)

The Staff Nurse / Paramedic will support the medical team in the management and coordination support for International SOS medical services activities, consistent with contractual commitments for client’s project site. This will include professional and competent management of patients, occupational health and education of contractors on site within the realms of the paramedic scope of skills. Interface between Intl.SOS Supply Chain and Medical Assistance Center, Medical Service Providers and Client in support of the delivery of medical services.


Responsibilities

  • Assisting in providing of care for minor illnesses or injuries including relevant clinical assessment, treatment, and regular follow-up of all cases until complete resolution.
  • Delivering quality non-emergency and emergency medical/trauma response care, according to written protocols, to all personnel at the work site under rig responsibility.
  • Ensuring that all emergency medical equipment, including first aid equipment, is in working order and properly maintained.
  • Conducting first aid and CPR training (non-certified).
  • Arranging, in coordination with the client, periodic simulated exercises and drills for first responders.
  • Participating in Rig/ site information campaigns on the subjects of personal protective equipment, healthy lifestyle, and personal precautions for the prevention of transmissible diseases.
  • Carrying out periodic audits o kitchen and mess areas, water supply and sanitation hygiene
  • Monitoring health and fitness for duty status of all food handlers
  • Ensuring appropriate disposal of clinical waste in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and site policies.
  • Assisting in the measurement and monitoring of occupational health risks (e.g. noise monitoring).
  • Maintaining designated triage and multiple casualty response areas.
  • Staffing and occasionally driving ambulances (if required)
  • Checking patients, coming up with differential diagnosis and giving emergency care and treatment
  • Prioritising and managing treatment and evacuation in mass casualty incidences
  • Administering OTC and prescribed medications through IV, IM or oral depending by the doctors’ orders
  • Identifying abnormal chest activity, through Inspections, Palpation, and Auscultation
  • Assessing and maintaining any compromised airway, including the use of adjuncts such as oropharyngeal airway or laryngeal mask airway (LMA)
  • Performing basic life support treatments
  • Filling in and maintain patient care records using SOAPE methodology in accordance to International SOS documentation standards
  • Using specialised tools and equipment, such as ventilators, defibrillators, independently initiate the use of an AED,
  • Maintaining all equipment and ensuring that they are in good working condition,
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of ambulances and work environments,
  • Replenishing instruments, tools and supplies required.
  • Familiar to use various types of stretchers and body immobilisation devices,
  • Carry out emergency basic procedures to control external haemorrhage, apply dressing, bandages, slings and splints,
  • Provide immediate care to casualties during the process of extrication and disentanglement from entrapments.

OH&S:

  • Participate in the development and maintenance of a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Undertake all mandatory OH&S training as required.
  • Comply with any reasonable instructions, policies, procedures or safe work practices given by International SOS in adhering to safe work procedures.
  • Co-operate with management in its fulfilment of its legislative obligations.
  • Take reasonable care to ensure their own health and safety and the safety of others.
  • To report any injury, hazard or illness as soon as possible to their supervisor

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with the Singapore Nursing board
  • Must hold registration to practice in country of origin.
  • Minimum 2 years of ward experience in either General Ward, Emergency Department or Intensive Care Unit
  • Completed a Paramedic course approved by MOH
  • Hold valid certifications: BCS, ACLS,
  • Possess strong problem-solving abilities, able to stay clam and empathetic
  • Robust communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good attitude, Team worker, High Integrity
  • Familiar with Microsoft Words, Excel and Microsoft Teams
  • On rotational work schedule depending on projects assigned
