Job Responsibilities:
- As an In-house Product Designer, your responsibilities include defining product specifications, creating digital or print drawings, and designing fully-functional products. You'll focus on luggage, travel accessories, bags, water bottles, and packaging.
- Concept Development: Generate ideas for new products based on market trends, customer preferences, and brand identity. Research fashion trends, demographics, and brainstorm creative concepts.
- Sketching and Rendering: Translate ideas into sketches and technical drawings using design software or traditional methods, with a keen eye on proportions, materials, and construction techniques.
- Material Selection: Choose materials like leather, fabric, hardware, and embellishments, considering durability, aesthetics, cost, and sustainability.
- Prototype Development: Work with patternmakers and sample makers to create prototypes, overseeing the process to ensure designs meet vision and standards.
- Project Management: Create and manage timelines, ensuring critical milestones are met throughout product development.
- Technical Specifications: Detail dimensions, materials, construction methods, and hardware for each design.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams and suppliers to align designs with brand objectives and market demand.
- Quality Control: Conduct checks to ensure designs meet quality standards.
- Trend Analysis: Stay updated on fashion trends and competitor offerings.
- Presentation: Present design concepts to stakeholders using sketches, mood boards, and sample presentations.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Architecture, Arts, Industrial designs or a related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in products design, preferably in retail industry. Preferably in a fast-paced, cross functional environment. Candidate with more years of experience will be considered for a Senior role.
- Proficiency in Adobe (CS, Photoshop, Illustrator), knowledge in any other design software will be an added advantage.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and project requirements. Strong creative vision and ability to think outside the box.
- Ability to generate original ideas and solutions to complex design problems.
- Ability to effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to diverse stakeholders and collaborate across teams.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for crafting exceptional user experiences
- Positive, commitment and “can-do” attitude.
- Good leadership, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
