Responsibilities:
- Holistic Financial Oversight: Take charge of all financial aspects, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our financial processes.
- Compliance and Policy Development: Develop and implement finance policies, processes, and internal controls tailored to the needs of our startup, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Data Structure Development: Design and implement a flexible and scalable data structure and chart of accounts to facilitate financial analysis and reporting as our startup grows.
- Operational Support: Be prepared to be hands-on in various financial operations, including but not limited to accounting tasks, accounts receivable/payable management, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations.
- Reporting and Analysis: Generate weekly and monthly reports, and lead the analysis of financial performance to provide actionable insights to stakeholders and support decision-making.
- Forecasting and Budgeting: Lead the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes, working closely with stakeholders to align financial goals with business objectives.
- Audit Preparation and Management: Prepare for external and internal audits, ensuring that all documentation and processes are in order, and manage the audit process effectively.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about regulatory changes affecting financial procedures and ensure our startup's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- System Management and Integrity: Oversee the maintenance and integrity of financial systems, ensuring they meet our startup's evolving needs and comply with applicable accounting standards.
- Issue Resolution and Improvement Initiatives: Address any issues raised by audits or internal reviews promptly, and proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional financial qualification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance or accounting roles, with a proven track record of success in the commodities industry
- Strong understanding of commodities market dynamics, including pricing mechanisms, risk management strategies, and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, with experience in commodities trading platforms being advantageous
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients and build enduring relationships
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
- Analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous improvement
