Responsibilities:
- Key functions will include identification, assessment, management and mitigation/control of legal risks in the region and in Singapore.
- Generate / review of all in-house legal documents, including standard terms and conditions/ contracts and standard forms for internal/external use, internal/external publications, marketing and publicity materials.
- Negotiate and review of customer contracts/ terms and conditions of business in order to achieve optimal terms of business with third party intermediaries or clients.
- Provide Legal advice and support on new and/ or proposed projects and on development of new lines of financial products for clients.
- Deal with and resolve all litigation arising from/impacting the company.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a reputable institution and being admitted to practice in one or more Commonwealth jurisdictions, including Singapore.
- At least 10 years of relevant working experience in a financial institution or reputable law firm (specifically, with experience in capital markets, securities and/or derivatives).
- Sound knowledge of relevant laws (including Securities Futures Act and the Financial Advisers Act).
- Candidates should be self-motivated, collaborative, adaptable and possess a strong analytical ability with attention to detail.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are key, and the Candidate needs to be able to work independently and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Prior experience in capital markets, prime brokerage and/or derivatives would be an advantage.
- Detail-oriented, able to apply good judgment and experience in making accurate and precise recommendations.
- Experience in partnering management on diagnosing difficult legal circumstances, filtering down into simpler terms, building constructive scenarios that lead to effective legal recommendations that minimize legal risk exposure.
