Electrical & Instrument Technician (Contract)

The plant in Singapore, located in Jurong Island, is new and combines monomer and polymer productions. It is the result of exceptional investments and aims to support strong demand from the customers in Asia.

This is a short-term contract (2 months) role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance calibrations, installation, configuration and fault diagnosis of instrumentation and control system equipment,
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance work for related plant equipment such as transmitters/ switches/ detectors/ PLCs/ DCS/ MCC, and more.
  • Carry out maintenance, troubleshooting and improvement activities to the Electrical system, AC/DC drives etc. to ensure optimum uptime of the equipment
  • Assist nspection and testing of electrical systems to comply with regulatory requirements and company Integrity program and all appropriate standards.
  • Read and understand manuals, schematics, and P&ID's.
  • Support engineers related to electrical, instrumentation, including manufacturing and facility equipment
  • Manage in-house contractor’s team and carry out plant maintenance involving PTW, RA, LEW, LOTOTO and all safe work procedure.
  • To carry out proper E & I maintenance (schedule/breakdown) on all company plants so that plant downtime is kept at a minimum and adheres to all safety practices at all time.
  • Assess E&I systems reliability and report to the superior for any abnormalities
  • Work with maintenance planner to keep track of equipment spares and to replenish the spares when needed.
  • Liaise and coordinate with contractors and external service providers when needed.
  • Assist with Quality Improvement Projects to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • 5S and Housekeeping at all times and ensure proper care and maintenance of tools and facility

Education and Skills Requirements

  • Diploma/ Higher Nitec in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering or related fields
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the petrochemical, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Good knowledge and documentation practice in Safety Critical Systems (SCS) loop test and record keeping ,test reporting, schematics and drawings
  • Fair knowledge on Distributed control system (DCS) and Automated control systems (PLC)
  • Good knowledge in electrical safety and chemical plant safety & work experience
  • Always ensure and drive safe working culture by practicing and emphasizing on company safety activities and programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good Team player and primarily self-directed with a high degree of self-initiative
  • Ability to learn various techniques and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Good working skill in SAP, MS Office and other software added advantage.
