A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR ID Labs) is seeking for a Research Officer to join us in our mission to be a leading centre of infectious diseases research. A*STAR ID Labs aims to develop a cohesive A*STAR response to drive and deliver translational infectious diseases research to better health and economic outcomes.
Job Description:
- To focus on bridging the knowledge gap of vector–pathogen-host interactions in mosquito-borne disease transmission. To understand the immune and pathogenic mechanisms during mosquito borne-virus infection to guide the development of targeted and effective control and treatment strategies
- Conduct laboratory experiments in vaccine/drug testing and perform data analysis for industry/research collaboration projects
- Work with patient cohorts and relevant models (both in vitro and in vivo) of infectious diseases
- Perform meticulous recordkeeping and able to draft delivery report to industrial partners
- Perform maintenance of inventory and procurement of laboratory consumables
- Ensure safe technical practices and procedures
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Biological Sciences, Infectious Diseases, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry or related field
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience or applicants with relevant academic experience are welcome to apply.
- Experience with cell culture models, mouse models, animal studies, cell biology, flow cytometry, serological and molecular techniques, handling with BSL-2 and BSL-3 pathogens will be an asset
- Experience with industry project management
- Strong background in Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics and Genomics
- Highly motivated and able to work independently
- Team player with good interpersonal skills
- Good spoken and written communication skills
