Job Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related discipline required.
- Minimum 10 years work experience in hazardous waste industry or large utility / industrial plant experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of waste management regulations and fire safety provisions.
- Well verse in MS Office Applications.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, directs, supervises, and coordinates the continuous, efficient, and safe operation and maintenance of biohazardous waste incineration facilities and related equipment.
- Inspects plant machinery and equipment which may require climbing ladders, stairs and catwalks, exposure to large machinery and confined spaces; inspects ongoing activities for safety and environmental compliance and for adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Reviews and interprets key operating data and makes appropriate changes in procedures to ensure continuous and efficient operations and maintenance.
- Develop and direct the scheduling of day-to-day activities pertaining to incineration facilities to ensure efficient and effective operation, including shift roster, attendance, toolbox safety briefing, and maintenance schedule.
- Ensure the implementation of preventive maintenance procedures and training programs such that technicians and plant operators are qualified to troubleshoot and maintain equipment and that skill level is continually improving.
- Develops plans for staffing, technical training, and continuous operation of incineration facilities to meet increased demands.
- Maintain and update Safe Work Procedure, Risk Assessment, Workplace Health & Safety standards, and Fire Safety provisions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations pertaining to management of biohazardous waste including relevant Singapore Standards and Code of Practice.
- Ensure incidents, accidents and close calls are reported and notified in line with the company’s procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections of waste storage areas and work sites to identify and address potential safety hazards.
- Plan and participate in the company’s emergency response activities including risk mitigation measures associated with fire safety and hazardous materials incidents.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all waste incineration activities, including waste inventories, waste disposal manifests, and internal as well as regulatory reports.
- Interfaces with customers and regulators during plant audits, inspections, etc.
- Any other operational duties that are deemed necessary.
