Position: Assistant Finance Manager (Non-Profit Organization)
Salary: $4000 - $5500
Working Day: 5 days, Hybrid work mode (3 days in, 2 days out)
Working Hours: Staggered from 8am to 7pm. 8am-4.30pm / 8.30am -5pm & etc
Working Location: Tanglin Road
Mission of the Department: The Finance department is to provide donors, stakeholders, and business partners with sound financial and internal control and governance in alignment with the Singapore Charities Act, Financial Reporting Standards, and company policies. We focus on efficient operating systems and processes, information, analysis, and business insights needed for informed decisions, and strong financial resources to support company’s priority conservation activities in Singapore and the rest of the global network.
Major Functions: Deliver timely and accurate financial information and business performance insights for the operations of fundraising and conservation activities. Provide strategic financial planning, oversight of project expenditures and revenue, and cash management to maximise the efficient and effective use of funds. Drive accountability, control and compliance, and risk awareness by a high-performing team of talented finance professionals based on trust and mutual support.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent should:
- Take ownership of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger reporting process, and relentlessly work to ensure smooth and efficient operation;
- Review and approve expense claims and supplier invoices to ensure all supporting documentation are submitted and in line with company finance guidelines;
- Assist in month end activities and preparation of journal entries and management reports of the organisation;
- Monitor and analyse balance sheet accounts to ensure they are reconciled and adjusted on a monthly basis;
- Ensure that a complete and accurate monthly trial balance, balance sheet, income statement and notes to accounts are completed on a timely basis;
- Ensure that consistent and adequate internal controls are enforced at all times as per the company Field Operations Manual and give recommendations on streamlining processes;
- Assist with statutory, internal and ad hoc project audits;
- Assist with preparing documentation and other administrative tasks to facilitate requirements from business partners and external service providers;
- Assist deployment of new tools, systems, and processes to aid in quality, efficiency, and delivery;
- Perform other appropriate duties upon request by Finance Director and Finance Manager.
Required Qualifications
· ACCA/Singapore Chartered Accountant/Diploma in accounting.
· At least 8 years of financial/accounting experience within an international organization, multinational company or charity with complex donor requirements.
Required Skills and Competencies
· Good knowledge of IFRS and GST
· Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
· Experience in SAGE or other accounting systems e.g., SAP, Oracle would be an advantage
· Familiar with good internal control practices
· Hands-on experience with AP, AR, GL reporting and preparation of financial statements
· Self-starter with strong organizational skills who can work independently
· Honest, mature, with good analytical skills
· Team player
· Able to prioritise and operate under tight deadlines
· Good communication skills
· An interest in conservation
