Job Scope:
Each School Library Consultant will:
- Connect with identified schools of varying levels (Pri/Sec/Pre-U) and profiles to understand their school library eco-system [includes library-related curriculum and programmes, workplans (including interest groups), resource allocation(physical, digital, manpower)]. This would entail regular face-to-face touchpoints with each school.
- Guide these schools onbuilding a thriving and sustainable reading and library culture that supports the development of the emerging 21st Century competencies in students and develops the joy of reading in students. This would include but not limited to, working on a whole school approach to tapping Library as a resource for reading and learning.
- Distil elements of a thriving and sustainable school library eco-system from aggregated school visit findings.
- Share findings with and advise the School Library Committee and school personnel on:
a. Good practices, policies and guidelines pertaining to school libraries;
b. Elements of a thriving and sustainable school library eco-system; and
c. Related and relevant Professional Development (PD) plans and opportunities
Requirements:
1. Have relevant experience mentoring others in developing organisation-wide reading initiatives and/or library programmes, preferably more than 3 years.
2. Preferably, candidates should have more than 3 years of experience leading a department, preferably in an educational setting.
A Bachelor’s degree or post-graduate qualifications. It would be advantageous if he/she also has additional qualifications related to education and/or librarianship.
