JEYST Shipping Pte Ltd was incorporated in January 2024 in Singapore. The company is a dry bulk operator that will particularly focus on the Post-Panamax, Panamax, and Ultramax sectors of various dry bulk commodities. We aim to provide flexible and reliable freight services to customers for worldwide trade flows of coal, iron ore and minerals.
We are looking for a Chartering Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and managing chartering activities related to the Pacific region, ensuring the efficient deployment of dry bulk vessels and optimizing commercial performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chartering and knowledge of the tonnage or cargo market.
The role will play a critical role in optimizing vessel deployment, negotiating charter agreements, and ensuring the efficient operation of dry bulk vessels within the Pacific trade routes. The position requires strong analytical skills, market awareness, and negotiation abilities to achieve optimal results in a dynamic shipping environment.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue chartering opportunities in the tonnage market for dry bulk vessels.
- Negotiate and secure long-term charter contracts with reputable clients, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
- Monitor market trends and assess charter rates to make informed decisions on chartering.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders in the shipping industry.
- Collaborate with the operations and commercial teams to optimize vessel utilization and ensure smooth chartering operations.
- Stay updated on industry developments and best practices related to dry bulk chartering.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as operations, bunkering, marine accounting, and legal to support chartering activities effectively.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Maritime or other related fields.
- 1-3 years’ relevant experience in a chartering role
- Proven experience as a Chartering Manager in the dry bulk shipping industry in Pacific region, preferably having had a specific focus on tonnage.
- Strong understanding of the dry bulk shipping market
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and secure long-term charter contracts with a track record of successful outcomes.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and make informed decisions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in IMOS would be an added advantage.
- Fluent skills in English, other languages is an added advantage.
