The Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) is looking for a candidate to join them as a Research Fellow who is interested in the intersection of technology, empathy and wellbeing.
The candidate will support the planning and execution of various research grants, and will work closely with the Lead Investigator on quantitative and qualitative research related to the impact of media technologies on wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and conducting literature reviews and working on research papers
- Assist in research activities including conceptualization and planning of research projects
- Lead/assist in data gathering (including focus group discussions and surveys)
- Conduct data analysis of interview and survey data
- Actively contribute to the writing of academic research manuscript
- Lead the writing of reports
- Carry out administrative work associated with the program of research as necessary
Job Requirements:
- PhD degree in Communication Studies, Psychology or related field in the social sciences
- Applicants with more than 1 year of work experience in social sciences research will be preferred. Entry level candidates are also welcome to apply.
- Prior experience in focus group interviews and surveys for social science research
- Good quantitative data management and analytical skills (e.g., being able to analyze data using SPSS, MPLUS, R, and/or Python)
- Demonstrable intellectual excellence and capacity to work with others independently
- Good project management skills, with multi-tasking ability
- Academic writing skills
- A good publication track record evidenced by journal publications and conference presentations is preferred
