Job Title: Librarian (Managed Libraries)
Location : Singapore
About the Role:
Manage or assist to manage the daily operations of the library including performing library loan transactions, acquisitions, cataloguing, processing of library resources, execution of library programmes, activities, provide reference and information services to assist library patrons in their research and learning needs.
- Provide guidance to library teams for their daily operations, and ensure they are achieving the Service Level Agreement.
- Perform collection review including gap analysis.
- Develop recommended library resource lists including books, eBooks, journals, magazines, databases, etc.
- Propose and/or develop strategic library programmes to promote the library resources and services.
- Prepare and analyse regular reports e.g. library usage, loan and collection statistics, reference enquiries etc.
- Liaise with suppliers in the procurement, selection and delivery of print and e-resources.
- Ensure team is kept abreast of changes in the library industry including standards in acquisitions, collection development and cataloguing so that they are consistently equipped with up-to-date knowledge to advise customers.
- Any other duties assigned to meet the needs and requirements of the business.
Requirements:
- A recognized degree in any discipline with at least 3 - 5 years of relevant working experience in managing libraries.
- A recognized postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Management or Information Science is preferred.
- Committed to delivering quality customer service.
- Knowledge in library operations such as reference services, circulation operations and research support.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact well with clients, library users and library vendors. Patience, with attention to details.
- Good knowledge on the use of online databases.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet users’ needs.
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and Internet IT skills.
- Ability to lead library team in the provision of library service.
