COMMUNICATIONS & FUNDRAISING EXECUTIVE

JOB BRIEF

We are looking for a Communications & Fundraising Executive to assist in the development, execution and optimisation of Sikh Welfare Council’s (SIWEC) communication platforms to drive our community engagement and fundraising efforts. The Communications & Fundraising Executive will work with our Fundraising committee (FRC) and create content according to our Fundraising calendar to secure financial support from diverse sources including individual donors, corporate partners and foundations to support the sustenance and growth of SIWEC’s programs.


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Communications & Fundraising Executive

Fundraising

  • Assist the FRC to develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies based on timeline of major events and identify new strategies to diversify revenue streams to meet fundraising goals.
  • Work with the admin team to identify and cultivate relationships with current donors and other potential funding sources, including creating content as required to effectively communicate SIWEC’s mission, programs and impact to secure the financial support for our programs.
  • Plan and execute fundraising campaigns and initiatives with the FRC, including online campaigns, direct mail appeals and special events to engage donors.
  • Create content to showcase the impact of SIWEC’s programs and showcase beneficiaries as part of regular communications and special fundraising campaigns.

Donor & Volunteer Engagement

  • Assist in the planning and execution of communicating strategies to internal stakeholders (key volunteers including SIWEC management committee members and sub-committees, donors, Sikh institutions, and community partners (including government agencies from the social service and health sector.)
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with volunteers and donors (individuals, corporate partners and foundations) and maintain regular engagement with them through various channels including emails, letters and special events.
  • Provide regular updates to donors on the impact of their contributions, showcasing tangible outcomes, success stories and testimonials.
  • Create content to showcase volunteering with SIWEC’s programs and showcase volunteers to engage with potential new volunteers.
  • Maintain, build and update mailing and donor and volunteer databases.


Event Coordination

  • Assist in planning, organizing and executing events to increase SIWEC’s profile and engagement with stakeholders, primarily for fundraising and recruitment of volunteers for our programs.
  • To plan and manage publicity and marketing of SIWEC’s community engagement channels and activities (e.g. SIWEC’s fund-raising initiatives, outreach events at various community touchpoints, online or in-person forums, workshops, and webinars/seminars, as well as the biennial SIWEC Appreciation Day.
  • Assist the Manager in organising and managing visits to SIWEC by community partners, donors, government agency representatives, and members of the media.


Corporate Communications

  • Develop creative concepts for content marketing, social media channels and SIWEC’s official website and prepare online newsletters, promotional emails and organise their distribution through various channels.
  • Plan and manage SIWEC’s presence on social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube)
  • Measure performance of digital marketing efforts using a variety of analytics tools (including, but not limited to, Mail Chimp, Google Analytics, Web Trends and more).
  • To plan and manage SIWEC’s public communications including regular website updates, content creation of engaging stories for social media channels and drafting content for internal publications (e.g. SIWEC annual reports and quarterly e-Newsletter).
  • Nurture relationships with mainstream and online media and develop narratives to promote and profile SIWEC’s social impact through long-standing and ongoing initiatives, such as Theek Thak (Are You Ok?) mental health programme.


Required Skills

  1. Minimum diploma or equivalent qualification.
  2. Preferably with 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  3. Exceptional writing, speaking and story-telling skills.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, ability to communicate in a clear and persuasive manner.
  5. Proven ability to be proactive, responsive, detail-oriented, demonstrate good judgment, with the ability to deliver work of high quality and accuracy within specified timelines.
  6. Relevant experience in marketing communications capacity in a social service setting will be an advantage.
  7. Familiarity with basic design functions in Adode, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva.
  8. Experience with digital analytics tools (Google Analytics, Facebook Business Suite) and Content Management System (e.g. WordPress) is essential.
  9. With your strong teamwork ethic, you thrive at building and maintaining collaborative relationships.
  10. You cherish the ability to work autonomously.
  11. Willing to work on weekends and/ or public holidays as and when required.


The ideal candidate will have a passion for all things marketing and technology. You will be tech-savvy and intuitive with great ideas to reinforce our marketing and communications campaigns. You will also have a keen interest in joining a team engaged in service (sewa) to

help vulnerable families and disadvantaged individuals cope with and overcome a diverse range of social, economic or psychological challenges.
