Key Experience
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a bakery setting
• Able to display leadership skills with excellent communication skills
• Excellent knowledge in both sourdough and yeasted breads
• Experience of handling bakery equipments
• Understanding of health and safety, and basic food hygiene practices
• Excellent knowledge of managing order and inventory
Additionally
• Able to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
• Be punctual and well disciplined
• Ability to work weekends, and holidays
• Able to work night shift/early morning shift
• Knowledge of recipe costing
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Job Responsibilities
• Recipe Development and Baking:
Overseeing the baking process to ensure quality and consistency. Designing recipes and creating new baked goods when required.
• Ingredient Management:
Sourcing and purchasing high-quality ingredients within budget constraints.
Managing inventory to avoid shortages or wastage.
• Food Safety:
• Ensure adherence to the quality of food items according to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) guidelines in place.
• Always observe and adhere to NEA standard for safety and hygiene standards for production, kitchen and culinary work area
• Ensure maintenance and sanitize baking utensils, tools and machinery
• Production Planning:
Planning production schedules to meet customer demand while minimizing waste and maintaining freshness.
• Staff Management:
Hiring, training, and supervising bakery staff, including bakers, assistants, and sales personnel. Assigning tasks and ensuring everyone works efficiently.
• Quality Control:
Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet quality standards in terms of taste, texture, appearance, and freshness.
• Hygiene and Sanitation:
Maintaining a clean and hygienic workspace in compliance with food safety regulations. Implementing proper sanitation practices to prevent contamination.
• Menu Planning and Pricing:
Developing a menu of baked goods based on customer preferences and market trends. Setting prices that are competitive yet profitable.
• Equipment Maintenance:
Ensuring all baking equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition. Arranging for repairs or replacements when necessary.
• Marketing and Promotion:
Promoting the bakery through various channels such as social media, local advertising, or word of mouth. Creating attractive displays to showcase products.
• Financial Management:
Managing the bakery's finances, including budgeting, tracking expenses, and monitoring sales revenue. Identifying areas for cost savings and maximizing profitability.
• Compliance and Licensing:
Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations
• Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by the immediate superior
Community Engagement: Building relationships with the local community and participating in events or activities to promote the bakery and foster goodwill.
Continuous Improvement: Staying updated on industry trends, experimenting with new recipes and techniques.
