The Opportunity:
As an experienced BIM Coordinator, you will lead the development and integration of multidisciplinary BIM models for a significant project. Your role will involve overseeing coordination efforts and resolving intricate BIM issues, utilizing advanced techniques and terminology such as:
• Assimilating incoming data from client and consultant teams using Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) or other exchange formats.
• Identifying and addressing coordination/interface issues through clash detection and resolution methodologies, such as interference checking.
• Reporting coordination conflicts to respective design teams for resolution, leveraging clash detection reports and model coordination meetings.
• Ensuring information and model compliance with the Project scope, BIM Execution Plan (BEP), and Level of Information using model checking procedures and compliance matrices.
• Managing processes and procedures for information exchanges, including the adept utilization of revision and suitability codes within a Common Data Environment (CDE) compliant with ISO 19650 standards.
• Mastery of BIM technologies, encompassing both cloud-based collaboration platforms (e.g., BIM 360) and managed systems, to seamlessly integrate the Project Information Model (PIM) and issue tracking reports and metrics.
• Demonstrating adaptability and a keenness to swiftly acquire and apply new skills amid evolving structural, procedural, informational, and technological landscapes.
You will report directly to the Project Architect, and your responsibilities will span an array of tasks, including:
• Adhering to BIM standards and project strategy, requirements, and codes of practice, including adherence to COBie (Construction Operations Building Information Exchange) standards for data exchange.
• Generating progress reports aligned with project BIM requirements, utilizing model checking and validation tools.
• Executing and reporting coordination checks with precision, utilizing clash detection reports and issue tracking logs.
• Guiding design team members through the Data Exchange (DE) process, employing Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) or other exchange formats, and offering ad hoc support to the broader project team as needed.
• Convening design coordination meetings, leveraging the PIM to track issue resolution activities and utilizing BIM Collaboration Format (BCF) for issue management.
• Promoting the wider team's utilization of federated models for issue resolution, employing Model Coordination tools like Autodesk Navisworks or Solibri.
• Emphasizing clash avoidance during design phases by employing Work-in-Progress (WIP) models and conducting clash detection workshops.
• Providing multidisciplinary teams with insightful advice on model requirements, encompassing spatial location, units, Level of Information Need progress against BEP requirements, and Asset Information Requirements (AIR) status reporting.
Requirements:
• Possession of a Degree or Diploma in Architecture, Engineering, or a related Construction discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in BIM production within a multidisciplinary design environment.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex BIM concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Advanced comprehension of BIM processes with a knack for imparting this knowledge to others.
• Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, and various other BIM systems.
• Proven track record in managing the design coordination process effectively, including clash detection and resolution.
• Developing expertise in Project and Information Management, including document control and versioning procedures within a BIM environment.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks effectively and troubleshoot under pressure, employing advanced problem-solving techniques within BIM workflows.
• Working knowledge of national codes and classification schemes (e.g., UniFormat, OmniClass) and their implications for DE delivery and data exchange.
